Single Leg Scissors
Lie on the back, spine and pelvis are neutral. Spine is lengthened and upper torso is in flexion, rounded up off the mat. Both legs extended up toward the ceiling, hands holding onto the calves, just below the knees.
How to do it
Inhale: Extend the right leg away, as far as you can maintain the neutral spine and pelvis.
Exhale: Pulse the extended leg for two counts, while drawing the opposite leg in toward the torso, and pulsing for two counts.
Inhale: Switch legs, repeating.
Exhale: Drawing the leg in and pulsing both legs for two counts, Inhale during the transition of legs switching.
Repeat 8 - 10 sets
To end…
Inhale: Bring both legs together to start position, extending toward the ceiling, neutral spine and pelvis.
Exhale: Draw yourself in a little deeper into the abdominals, pulling the legs in toward you for a final stretch and bring the legs into the chest.
Be mindful
- Lower legs only as far as neutral spine can be maintained.
When the mind needs somewhere to land
Everything in this wing points, in the end, to the same place — the breath, and the nervous system beneath it. It is why I built SOVA: a quiet companion for the moments in between.
- Today — a daily practice that aligns you before the day pulls you a dozen directions.
- Companion — a place to process any feeling, even the happy ones.
- Pages — a soft place to set your thoughts down and out of your head.
- The House — rooms of calm to step into, whenever you need one.
