Open the Chest — Hands Behind
The Work · Move 3 of 14

Why this one
A hunched, closed chest compresses the lungs and the muscles across the front of the shoulders. Opening it directly counteracts hours of curling inward over a keyboard.
How to do it
Reach behind your low back and interlace your fingers (or hold the chair frame). Draw your shoulders back and press your chest forward and up.
Keep in mind
Open across the collarbones, not by arching the low back.
Every move: lightly lift your pelvic floor — a gentle lift, never a clench — and breathe slow and full (hold the stretches for about 5 easy breaths, at least 30 seconds). New to the lift? →
