Rest Right Rituals
Good sleep isn't luck; it's built. A few simple rituals, kept most nights, do more than any supplement — and they cost nothing. The body wants to rest well. Mostly, we just need to stop getting in its way.
Set the room
Cool, dark, and quiet is the whole recipe. Aim for around 60–65°F, and make it truly dark — the little lights from phones, clocks and chargers all interfere with deep sleep. An eye mask helps your body reach its rhythm and make its own melatonin; earplugs or a fan handle the noise.
Mind the hours before
Caffeine lingers longer than we think (it hides in tea, chocolate and soda, not only coffee), and alcohol and late snacks both fracture the night. Ease off them in the evening. And keep the bedroom for sleep and intimacy — when it doubles as an office and a gym, the body forgets it's a place to rest.
A little help, gently
If you want extra support, a little calcium or magnesium at night can soothe, and a cup of chamomile tea with a teaspoon of raw honey is a lovely last ritual. The point isn't perfection — it's a wind-down your body learns to trust.
Pick one ritual and keep it — the same wind-down, most nights. The body loves a signal it can count on; consistency does more than any single trick.
When the mind needs somewhere to land
Everything in this wing points, in the end, to the same place — the breath, and the nervous system beneath it. It is why I built SOVA: a quiet companion for the moments in between.
- Today — a daily practice that aligns you before the day pulls you a dozen directions.
- Companion — a place to process any feeling, even the happy ones.
- Pages — a soft place to set your thoughts down and out of your head.
- The House — rooms of calm to step into, whenever you need one.
