Sunrise Juice
From The Kitchen
Named for its color and its timing, golden, gently sweet, and just tart enough from the lemon to wake you up.
Scaled from the original recipe, sizing up or down is proportional, so taste and adjust the salt, acid & spice.
Ingredients
- 3 carrots, scrubbed
- 1 apple, cored
- 1 orange, peeled
- ½ lemon, peeled
Method
- Prep the fruit and carrots, peeling the orange and lemon.
- Run everything through a juicer.
- Stir, pour over ice and enjoy. No juicer? Blend everything with ½ cup water, then strain through a fine-mesh sieve or nut-milk bag.
Storage: Best fresh. Keeps 24 hours in a sealed jar filled to the top.
Serve it with
- A morning refresher
- Before a walk or workout
- With eggs or a protein breakfast
Stretch it with water
A splash of filtered water, or more, makes the juice go further and lightens the sugar in every glass. It's a gentle option if you're sensitive to sugar or simply looking to cut back. Start with about one part water to three parts juice, then adjust to your taste.
Gina's tip
A little lemon does more than add tang, it keeps the juice from browning and brightens every other flavor.
Something bright and fresh to open the day can set a gentle, good-to-yourself tone for everything that follows.
I hope this recipe finds a place in your kitchen as it has in mine. Enjoy!
