Tea, Coffee, Matcha, or Herbal Tea?

Tea, Coffee, Matcha, or Herbal Tea?
The short answer

Coffee, green tea, matcha, black tea, rooibos — they’re all lovely, and none is “best.” The right one depends on how much caffeine suits you and the kind of energy you’re after.

The caffeine spectrum

Roughly: coffee sits at the top, then matcha and black tea, then green tea, and finally caffeine-free herbals and rooibos at the bottom. Knowing where you feel your best on that scale is most of the answer.

Coffee — the strong one

Bold, energizing, and rich in antioxidants. Wonderful in the morning; less kind to sleep and calm if you’re sensitive or drink it late.

Green tea & matcha — calm energy

Both carry L-theanine, an amino acid that smooths caffeine into steady, jitter-free focus — alert but calm. Matcha is the whole leaf ground up, so it’s more concentrated in both. This is my everyday favorite.

Black tea — the middle path

Less caffeine than coffee, more than green — and full of its own antioxidants. A gentle step down for anyone easing off coffee.

Rooibos & herbal — the wind-down

Naturally caffeine-free, so you can drink them anytime, right up to evening. Rooibos, chamomile, peppermint, ginger — soothing, and kind to sleep.

So which should you choose?

Want a strong lift? Coffee. Calm, focused energy? Matcha or green tea. Something for the afternoon and evening? Rooibos or herbal. Let how you feel — not the trend — decide.

Gina’s note

There’s no winner here — only what fits your body and your day. Match the cup to the moment, keep the add-ins simple, and enjoy it. Your health is built on the steady rhythm, not the perfect choice.
