The GLOW Body Principles
These are the basics from which every GLOW Body exercise stems — my own principles, built over more than three decades of teaching. It’s what makes my Pilates different, and why it gets results without jarring the body.
I took the principles I learned and made them mine, adding my own concepts until they became the foundation of everything I teach. Here is what makes GLOW Body GLOW Body.
- Fluid Breath — relaxed, focused breath using full lung capacity. Breathing correctly feeds strong abdominals, stabilizes the torso, and raises oxygen, circulation and flexibility. Each exercise has its own breath.
- Stability — the pelvis and lower back stay stabilized, neutral or imprinted. Awareness of breath and abdominal engagement settles the rib cage, and stabilizing the shoulder blades keeps the neck and shoulders safe.
- Control — every movement is inspired by complete control of body and mind. Even the transitions between exercises are part of it: staying in the zone, honoring the principles.
- Body Awareness — be present and focused on your best form. Feel the deep muscle connections; you reap the benefit of every movement as each fiber responds.
- Opposition — think of two points lengthening away from each other. Bring that into each movement and the body becomes streamlined, the muscles working in a whole new way.
- Flow — continual movement, engaged muscles, deep breath, fluid motion. The body quickly feels the deep work.
- Centering — the core is the powerhouse, the place every exercise begins. A strong center means safe, effective movement (and great abs).
- Precision — every movement, every count, is purposeful, and the way you attain it is specific, controlled, centered, and flowing.
Why it works
It is not about grinding your joints, pushing to extremes, or competing. It is mindful movement — easing into what your body needs to flow and be its best self. That is how I get lasting results without ever jarring the body.
When the mind needs somewhere to land
Everything in this wing points, in the end, to the same place — the breath, and the nervous system beneath it. It is why I built SOVA: a quiet companion for the moments in between.
- Today — a daily practice that aligns you before the day pulls you a dozen directions.
- Companion — a place to process any feeling, even the happy ones.
- Pages — a soft place to set your thoughts down and out of your head.
- The House — rooms of calm to step into, whenever you need one.
