The Way
The Weekly Fridge Reset
A clear fridge is an easy fridge.
The trick isn’t a bigger fridge — it’s being able to see what you have, and running through it once a week so nothing gets lost.

The System
Set it up so everything is visible and easy to reach.
See everything
- Glass & non-toxic ceramic storage with lids, BPA-free
- Slide-out trays so nothing hides in the back
- Label leftovers with the date
- Keep like with like — a home for each thing
Where things go
- Top shelf — leftovers & ready-to-eat
- Middle — dairy, eggs, drinks
- Bottom (coldest) — raw proteins, sealed
- Drawers — produce
- Door (warmest) — condiments & butter
The Weekly Ten Minutes
Once a week, run through it — front to back.
The run-through
- Pull older items to the front
- Toss anything past its prime or that smells off
- Wipe the shelf as you go
- Note what needs using this week
- Plan a meal or two around it
- Restock what’s low
Clear these out
- Condiments made with seed oils — canola, soybean, “vegetable,” sunflower, safflower (many dressings, mayo & sauces)
- Anything expired or off
- Wilted or slimy produce
- Mystery leftovers you won’t eat
Gina’s take. I run through my fridge every week — clean out the older things, bring the good stuff forward, and toss what I won’t use. My storage is all Caraway — borosilicate glass with a non-toxic ceramic coating, BPA-free, so I can see everything and trust it’s clean. For dressings and sauces I keep it to olive oil, not seed oils. Ten quiet minutes, and the whole week of eating gets easier.
